Join us on this half-day Bangkok Temple Tour to visit the Golden Buddha The origin of the huge Buddha image is not exactly known. Because of its style, it is assumed that it was cast during the Sukhothai era, the Kingdom that existed from 1238 until 1438 with the city of Sukhothai in Northern Thailand as its center. Wat Pho is the oldest and largest temple complex in Bangkok, it houses more than 1,000 Buddha images which is more than any other Wat in Thailand. Most of the images were brought over from abandoned temples in places such as Ayutthaya and Sukhothai by order of King Rama I. Wat Benchamabophit The ubosot of the marble temple was designed by Prince Narisara Nuvativongse, half brother of King Chulalongkorn. It is built from Carrara marble imported from Italy, hence the name marble temple.
